ABOUT

Formed in London, United Kingdom in 2015, Tim Rundle Studio works with an international client roster from it’s base in Tamaki Makau Rau / Auckland, Aotearoa / New Zealand.

With experience across furniture, lighting, home ware, technology and transport, the studio's work is driven by context and has grown to focus on the design of products and systems that exist at the intersection between architecture and its inhabitants. A preoccupation with simplicity, improvement and the pragmatic application of creativity; combined with a rigorous and knowledgable approach to the technical aspects of materials and manufacturing leads to results that are, at the same time, useful, engaging and relevant.

Tim graduated from the School of Architecture and Design at Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand. He then began working for Auckland based consultancy Formworks Design where, among other projects, he worked on the concept for Air New Zealand’s ground breaking seating systems ‘skycouch’ and ‘spaceseat’. In 2008 he relocated to London and was employed by the design consultancy Priestmangoode. He then went on to work for renowned British designer Tom Dixon, where he was head designer of the furniture and lighting design team. Prior to setting up his own studio in 2015 Tim was the Design Director at Conran and Partners, the multidisciplinary design studio founded by Sir Terence Conran.

Alongside his studio, Tim is involved in Design Education through some of the most renowned Universities in the world, including as a Platform Tutor on Design Products at the Royal College of Art (2015-2019), a Visiting Lecturer at Central St Martins, and as an External Examiner for Product Design at Brighton University.
